  • High-Temperature

More detailed review ↴

Usually, cordless heat guns come with a low battery,  you will have to charge the heat gun a lot of times before you can complete a simple task. But, from our tests, the DEWALT DCE530P1 battery lasts more than the usual heat gun.

The company claims that it can run up to 42 minutes without stopping (low settings), personally, I haven’t tested it for 42 minutes. I have used the heat gun a lot, but I mostly complete my tasks within 30 minutes.  Never had any battery problems.

This heat gun comes with two temperature settings, the maximum temperature that this heat gun can reach is 990F (532 Celcius). The heat gun heats up fast, I usually leave the heat gun to heat for 3-4 minutes before I start to work with it.

My garage is pretty dark and a thing that helps me a lot while working is the LED light. This heat gun comes with an LED light that lights the area that you are heating.

It also has the “Lock” feature that you see on corded heat guns. The “lock” allows you to put the heat gun on its back and work with both of your hands ( hand-free ).

What We Liked:

  • Good Battery –  Claims that I can run for 42 minutes without stopping (low settings)
  • High Temperature – The maximum temperature is 990 F.
  • LED Light – Comes with an LED light that helps in dark spaces.
  • Lock – This allows you to put the heat gun at its back and work hand-free.
What We Didn’t Like:

  • Not a lot of power –  because this is a cordless heat gun, it has lower power/reach.

2.  NEU MASTER NHG0140 – Battery Powered Heat Gun

Best Features  PRULDE Cordless Heat Gun, 20V Max Heat Gun Cordless with 4.0Ah Battery/Fast Charger/1022℉ Max/4...

  • Wireless Heating Technology
  • 5 Sec Cool-Down
  • Double-Safety Trigger

More detailed review ↴

Probably my favorite cordless heat gun. The reason why I like the NEU MASTER NHG0140 is that I don’t see any noticeable differences between this cordless heat gun and a normal heat gun. It is a high-quality tool that I use a lot!

It has a good battery (4.0AH 20V Li-ion) that lasts a lot.  The maximum temperature that this tool can reach is 1022° F.

A thing that I have not seen in many cordless heat guns is the cooling time. Usually, these types of heat guns need a lot of time to cool down, but the NEU MASTER heat gun only takes 5 secondsAfter you shut down the heat gun cools down within 5 seconds. This makes the tool safer and prevents accidental burns.

To make the tool even safer, this heat gun comes with a double safety trigger, this means that you have to push two buttons at the same time to power up the tool. This prevents accidental power-ups.

On the downside, we feel that the tool takes too much to heat up.

What We Liked:

  • Innovative heating technology –  Makes the air heat faster.
  • High Temperature – The max. temperature is 1022° F.
  • Cool-Down –  The tool only takes 5 seconds to cool down.
  • Double-Safety Trigger – This prevents you from accidentally starting the tool.
What We Didn’t Like:

  • The heat gun takes a lot of time to heat up.

3. Milwaukee Electric Tools 2688-21 – Best Battery-Operated Heat Gun

Milwaukee Electric Tools 2688-21 Review Best Features

  • Heats in 6 Seconds
  • Lightweight
  • Durable

If you are looking for a heat gun that heats up fast then check the Milwaukee 2688-21. This heat gun reaches its operating temperature in just 6 seconds.

The Milwaukee 2688-21 comes with a temperature management system, this system allows the heat gun to provide its maximum temperature for a long time without damaging the tool’s life.  The maximum temperature that this tool can provide is 1000° F.

The tool is easy to use and small, it can fit in places where a normal heat gun wouldn’t. It is also lightweight, and approximately weighs 4 pounds.

It comes with a “red-lithium” battery technology, it can heat up to 40 connections with one battery life.  Except for the heat gun, you will also get nozzles that can be used to prevent the tool from going in contact with unprotected spaces.

A great heat gun that I tend to use a lot, I have actually bought some bigger batteries so it can last longer.  I didn’t have any noticeable problems with this one.

What We Liked:

  • High Temperature – The maximum temperature that this tool provides is 1000° F.
  • Heat Fast – This tool reaches its operating temperature in just 6 seconds.
  • Lightweight – Approximately weighs 4 pounds.
  • You get some good nozzles too.
What We Didn’t Like:

  • Battery – The battery lasts a lot if you are doing a normal task. If you have a bigger project then you might need to buy bigger batteries.

If you have to work long hours then you probably need a lightweight tool, the ONE+ heat gun is a very lightweight tool, it only weighs 1.76 pounds. Meaning you will be able to work for a long time without fatigue.

This heat gun heat pretty fast too, sometimes it heats faster than normal heat guns. It reaches the operating temperature within 10 seconds. The maximum temperature that this tool can reach is 875° F. It comes with an LED work light that can help if you are working in dark spaces.

Except for the tool, you will also get a deflector nozzle and a concentrator nozzle. I use the deflector nozzle when I have to shrink and I use the concentrator nozzle when I have to heat specific spaces.

I mostly use this heat gun for small tasks, I have used it for shrinking and melting ice. It did a great job.

What We Liked:

  • High Temperature – The maximum temperature is 875°.
  • Heat Fast – It heats within 10 seconds.
  • Lightweight – The tool only weighs 1.76 pounds.
  • 2 Nozzles –  You will get a deflector nozzle and a concentrator with the tool.
  • Good For Small Projects
What We Didn’t Like:

  • The Bare-Tool Battery and Charger are sold separately

Corded Heat Guns vs Cordless Heat Guns?

These two tools do the same job, but overall they work differently. Corded heat guns get their power from electricity, which means they have more power, better airflow, and more features, and most of the time they are cheaper.

Portable heat guns get their power from batteries, a battery-operated heat gun is usually weaker than a normal heat gun.

In my opinion, corded heat guns are better and they help me complete my projects easier. But if they are better then why buy cordless heat guns?

The reason why we are seeing more and more cordless heat guns is that not everyone works inside or near power outlets, most of the people (including me) sometimes work outdoors. And the best choice for that is a portable heat gun.

A portable heat gun gets the power from batteries, nothing else just batteries. Due to that, the power and the airflow of a battery-operated heat gun are lower.  And because the tool needs a big battery to produce that kind of heat, the overall price of a cordless heat gun just gets higher.

What advantages of a Portable Heat Gun?

There are a lot of pros when it comes to a battery-powered heat gun. The most important one is that you can work whenever you want, it doesn’t matter if you have a power outlet or not, you still can work.

The other good thing about cordless heat guns is that they are small and lightweight. This can be helpful especially if you are working in small spaces. Usually, a normal heat gun can’t fit where a cordless one can.

They are also lighter so you will be able to work for a long time without fatigue. And the best thing about portable heat guns? You won’t make any mess and you will save a lot of time. I move a lot while working so using a cordless heat gun helps me complete the project without having to change power outlets.

Disadvantages of a Battery-Operated Heat Gun?

The first and most important thing is the price. Cordless heat guns tend to cost more because they need a battery in order to work. A battery can’t give them the same power as electricity so the airflow and the temperature are sometimes lower.

Usually, portable heat guns come with fewer features.  And you need to always charge the battery a day before working with the heat gun.  The battery of cordless heat guns doesn’t last more than 30-60 minutes.  So that means that cordless battery heat guns are used for small/medium tasks only.

Frequently Asked Questions About Battery-Powered Heat Guns

Final Words

If you work outdoors and you need a heat gun, then cordless heat guns are your go-to. They are easy to use, lightweight, and only take up a small space.

The list of the best cordless heat gun contains different products at different prices. If you still don’t know which one to buy, then just go with the one that you think will fit your needs more.
