  • Lightweight

  • Good For Homeowners

More detailed review ↴

It’s always a good idea to have this ladder around the house. This VonHaus Step Ladder is mostly made for homeowners — so it’s a good choice if you need to change the lamp bulb or fix something inside.

It works great even if you are tall, it helps you avoid the stress of reaching high surfaces. This unit comes with 4 steps — you can step on each of them, even the top one. The steps are 9-inches away from each other.

The tool is very portable — it’s fold-able and not very high, so you can store it without any problem. It has non-slip legs so you will be able to place it on almost every surface without risking to slip.

When it comes to weight, this ladder approximately 9 pounds, so it belongs to the lightweight ladders group.

On the downside,  the ladder starts to move if you place too much weight on it.

Pros:

  • Step Ladder – Small and perfect for homeowners
  • Portable – It’s fold-able and not very high.
  • Lightweight – Weighs approximately 9 pounds.

Cons:

  • Tends to move if you add too much weight.

2. Louisville Ladder FS2005

Best Features  Louisville Ladder FS2005 Fiberglass Step Ladder, 5-Feet/250lb, Yellow

  • Lightweight
  • Good for outdoor projects
  • Tools tray at the top

More detailed review ↴

Our first pick was more of a homeowner pick where the ladder was mostly limited for indoor projects. But this one, the Louisville Ladder FS2005 is a bigger ladder and it’s not limited for indoor projects.

This ladder is taller, it’s 5 ft tall and it can be easily used for outdoor projects. You can use it to fix the top of your garage, your windows, the opportunities are endless.

What I like most about this ladder is its safety — the boots are made of metal, the angles of the feet are made of aluminum, and it has non-slip rubber tread on all of the 4 legs. These qualities make this ladder very secure and allow you to use it to different surfaces without risking to fall.

Another good thing that this ladder has it’s the “Pro Top’ system — basically, it has a plastic tray where you can place different tools and use whenever you need them. When it comes to weight — this unit approximately weighs 14 pounds and it can hold up to 250 pounds.

On the downside, the brakes are a little too sniff which prevents the ladder to open smoothly.

Pros:

  • Tall – It’s 5 ft tall.
  • Safe – Boots made of metal and aluminum.
  • No-Slip  – Comes with non-slip rubber tread on the legs.
  • Tools Tray – Comes with a plastic tray at the top where you can play your tools.
  • Lightweight – Weighs approximately 14 pounds

Cons:

  • Brakes are a little too sniff.

3. Flip-N-Lite – Best Lightweight 6-Foot Ladder

Best Features  Little Giant Ladder Systems Flip N Lite 6 Foot 300 Pound Capacity Aluminum Lightweight Slim...

  • 6 ft tall
  • Fold-able
  • Lightweight

More detailed review ↴

A reason why we listed a lot of step ladders here is because of their A-Frame shape, this shape gives you more space to work with and you don’t need a wall or anything else to lean the ladder into.

If you want a ladder that can be used for industrial work but at the same time it’s lightweight then the Flip-N-Lite is your best friend.

This ladder is taller if you compare it to the first two picks — this one is 6 ft tall. What I like most about this ladder is that it comes with a base at the top, you can place your tools, your paint bucket (if you are doing painting projects) or you can put your feet there if you need to reach higher areas.

When it comes to weight — this ladder weighs approximately 14 pounds and its maximum capacity is 300 lbs.

On the downside, I don’t feel that the legs of this ladder are very high-quality.

Pros:

  • Base – It comes with a base at the top of the ladder.
  • A-Frame – Since it’s a step ladder you can use the A-Frame Shape.
  • Lightweight – It weighs approximately 14 pounds.

Cons:

  • I don’t feel that the legs are very well produced.

4. charaHOME Telescoping Ladder

Best Features  Telescoping Ladder A-Frame Aluminum Extension Ladder Lightweight Portable Multi-Purpose Folding...

  • Telescoping Ladder
  • Portable
  • Versatile

More detailed review ↴

If you live in a small apartment or a small house and you don’t have a lot of space to store your ladder then a telescoping should be your choice. These types of ladders not only are portable but they can be used for different tasks as well.

I like this charaHOME Ladder because I can use it for indoor and outdoor projects. The maximum height of this ladder is 53″, which is more than enough for your DIY projects.

This ladder is made of aluminum alloy which is a lightweight material. This unit weighs approximately 23 pounds, which is less than most of the telescoping ladders. The maximum capacity is 330 lbs.

What makes this ladder special is the locking system — it comes with a lock on each of the steps, this means that you can adjust the height of the ladder to match it with the project you are working on. And once you are done with the ladder all the steps close and the ladder becomes very portable.

On the downside, this ladder is a little bit pricey.

Pros:

  • Portable – You can close up the steps whenever you want.
  • Versatile – You can use it for indoors & outdoor projects.
  • Durable – Made of aluminum alloy.
  • Locking System – Allows you to lock each step.
  • Lightweight – Weighs approximately 23 pounds.

Cons:

  • Pricey

5. Little Giant 15422-001

Best Features  Little Giant Ladder Systems, Velocity with Wheels, M22, 22 Ft, Multi-Position Ladder, Aluminum, Type...

  • Versatile
  • Multi-Purpose
  • Tall

More detailed review ↴

As always — we like to include a tool that can be used for professional tasks on our list. Today, that tool is the Little Giant 15422-001 ladder.

What makes this ladder special is that it’s very versatile. This same ladder can be transformed into different shapes. You can transform it into the – A-Frame, 90-degree frame, etc. Basically, this is a 5-in-1 ladder. You can replace 5 different ladders with this one.

This ladder can go up to 22 feet high, but it’s not a part of the lightweight group. It weighs approximately 39 pounds which is more than the other units listed here but less than most of the other industrial ladders.

The ladder comes with easy-to-use brakes and its maximum capacity is 300 lbs. On the downside, the ladder is fold-able, but still, it will take you a lot of space to store it.

Pros:

  • Adjustable – You can transform this ladder into different shapes.
  • Tall – It’s a 22 feet ladder.
  • Brake – Comes with easy to use breaks for easier adjustments.
  • Capacity – 300 lbs.
  • Industrial – It can be used for professional projects.

Cons:

  • Not portable enough
  • Heavy

Buyers Guide

Well, there’s not much to talk about when it comes to choosing a lightweight ladder. The most important thing that you have to focus on is the weight, obviously.

If you don't know which lightweight ladder to pick then don't worry. We have made a buyers' guide where we explained how to pick a lightweight ladder.

But, to make it for you easier to choose one of these awesome lightweight ladders that we listed here we decided to write down below some qualities that you need to focus on. So here’s how to pick a lightweight ladder:

Safety

You have to be careful with any tool that you use, not only with ladders. But, if you fall from a high ladder then you can seriously harm yourself, that’s why it’s important to choose a ladder that it’s safe.

Since you will be choosing a lightweight ladder that means that you will probably end with a ladder that has light material. Lightweight ladders tend to shake more than heavy ladders.

So, when buying a lightweight ladder you have to always make sure that you can stand on it even if it’s shaking a little while you are climbing.

Don’t put too much weight on these types of ladders — I know their maximum capacity is high, but I don’t recommend going all the way.

Usage

Most of the ladders come with the same qualities — but some of them are made for specific tasks. Plus, there are different types of ladders available so you need to know which one to choose.

To know which type will fit your need best, you have to know the project that you will be working on. If you are planning to use a ladder to fix your light bulbs and for other indoor projects then choosing a small ladder is a good idea — step ladders should do fine for these projects (Number 1 and 2 on our list should do fine).

If you are planning to use a lightweight ladder for outdoor then getting a taller ladder is a good idea. For these kinds of projects, I prefer extension ladders (Number 5 on our list should do fine).

If you don’t know the project or if you have to do outdoor and indoor projects then I recommend telescoping ladders — these kinds of ladders are adjustable so you can adjust the height to match it to the project you are working on (Number #4 on our list should do fine with these types of projects).

Features

Most of these lightweight ladders come with the same basic qualities. But some of them come with some extra qualities.

One of the most important features a ladder should have is the non-slip grips. This prevents the ladder from slipping when it’s placed on different surfaces.

A good, but not essential quality is the tool tray. This is a tray or space at the top of the ladder where you can put your tools. It’s helpful if you are working with different tools at the same time.

Other than that — step locks, space between steps, non-slip steps, are just some of the qualities a lightweight ladder needs to have.

Price

Whenever you accept it or not, price plays a big role when it comes to buying something. Most people decide to take the shortcut and buy a cheap lightweight ladder. But, I don’t recommend doing it.

As you know low-quality ladders tend to slip and you can easily fall from them. Buying a high-quality lightweight ladder is a good idea because most of them are stable and come with different features to prevent slipping.

Final Words

And this is it — this is the post that we made about the best lightweight ladders.  The list contains different types of ladders that can be used for different types of projects.

Lightweight ladders are very portable and they allow you to work faster. If you don’t know which one to pick then make sure to read the buyer’s guide.

If you are planning to work indoor then our first 3 picks are mostly made for indoor projects, and if you are planning for outdoors then the last 2 units are better.
