Best LVLP Spray Guns – List
1. Astro GF20S Gravity Feed Spray Gun
- LightWeight
- Easy To Use
- Great Finish Quality
More detailed review ↴
The Astro Tools brand is part of the Astro Pneumatic Tool Company, which specializes in automotive repair and air tools. I have long used Astro Tools models for an LVLP sprayer.
When I have to paint a big object or something that takes a lot of time I prefer a lightweight, gravity-feed spray gun. Currently, I use the Astro Tools GF20S model for a lightweight and comfortable to use LVLP sprayer. The “Drip Check” cap helps to minimize drip-spray and pollution, it also reduces paint consumption with a really great transfer efficiency.
Like I said the design of this model is really great. Not only it’s really comfortable to use for hours, but also it has a soft trigger pull that allows you to control the settings really easily and reduce fatigue, and it has really great precision.
When I started using paint sprayers, I hated cleaning them because it took a lot to clean them and it was really hard to fully clean all the paint. But on this model, you get a stainless steel needle and fluid tip with a slick finish that helps you clean it faster and easier than the other models.
What are the tasks I can do with this tool?
Well, the possibilities are endless. I have used it for different tasks such as spraying bathroom cabinets, painting my truck I even used this one to spray my old motorcycle and all I can say is that now that motorcycle looks new.
Final Words
This model is not popular, but that doesn’t mean that you should not buy it. I use this model more than the “Popular” ones and 99% of the time it does a better job.

Like every other tool here this one is an LVLP too, you won’t need a big air compressor to make it work, this works perfectly with a small air compressor. It comes with separate & adjustable fluid , fan pattern and air controls for precise application. Best LVLP Paint Sprayers – Buyers Guide
Since there are a lot of different models this can be hard, but start asking yourself these questions which will make it easier for you to choose the one you need.
Project Type
Honestly, I think this is the most important question you need to ask yourself before buying it.
Seeing my top 5 you will realize that most of them are good for a lot of things, this will make it easier for you to choose if you are gonna use them to paint different things, such as your car, your motorcycle, your house doors.
Weight
As we have mentioned earlier in this post, LVLP models are not that fast. So in order to complete a job it may take a long time, depending on the object you are painting it may take even hours. So having a lightweight spray gun it will make it easier to work around the house without getting tired.
Almost all the models I have listed are really lightweight, and I have used them all to paint different things for hours. So before buying a spray gun make sure to check how much it weighs because this can help you do your job faster or slower.
Material
Overall almost all LVLP models are made from aluminum. Why? Because of the weight, as we all know that aluminum is not that heavy, and as we mentioned earlier is that you will need a lightweight spray gun if you tend to use them for hours. All of the models that we listed in this post are made from aluminum.

Types of an LVLP Spray Gun
Keep in mind that spray guns are not all the same, this will make it, even more, harder to choose the one you need but we will try to explain it in the best way so you can understand these two types.
- Bleeder Spray Gun
- Non-Bleeder Spray Gun
Bleeder Spray Gun
These types of spray guns will have a constant flow of air, regardless if you are pulling the trigger or not. This is will help the drying process to be faster. Also, there’s less chance that the cap will clog.
Non-Bleeder Spray Gun
This is a more “famous” type. This is the opposite of the other type, because once you release the trigger then the air will stop. Which will provide more control over what comes out of the gun. But, with this type the chances that the cap will clog are high.
LVLP spray guns can be
- Siphon feed
- Gravity feed
The difference between these two is that the gravity feed has its cup on the top and requires less air pressure, and the siphon-feed has its cup underneath and it’s more like an old-school painter.

What are LVLP spray guns?
Now, this type of spray gun needs a lower amount of air in order to work. Because there is a low volume that means it needs lower CFM.
And the lower volume and lower CFM can be done by a small air compressor. I know the letters “LVLP” can be very confusing and you may be thinking about what they mean, but these letters mean “Low Volume Low Pressure”.
So an “LVLP spray gun” is a ” Low Volume Low-Pressure spray gun. Since these letters make sense now it’s easier to understand how these types of spray guns work.
The “Low-Pressure Low Volume ” Spray guns use around 3 or 4 CFM.
A “Low-Pressure Low Volume” spray gun is probably the most common thing you see on a workshop or on a garage.
They are basically used for painting, but they are mostly used for small tasks like painting your doors, bathroom vanities, and a lot of other small tasks. They can be used for bigger tasks as well, but they will take a longer time to complete in comparison to a bigger spray gun such as “HVLP” ones.
Why Do People Prefer the Best Lvlp Paint Sprayers?
You are probably thinking that how can people use them if they are slow? First of all, they are not that slow. You can probably complete the job 20x faster than using roller paint.
But a lot of people prefer “Low-Pressure Low Volume” Spray Guns because of their quality of finish which tends to be smoother. Also, since they use lower amounts of pressure that means that lesser paint goes to waste. And once you are done they are really easy to clean.
Note: Learn here what types of paint you can use for your paint sprayers
Of course, probably the biggest reason people prefer LVLP guns instead of HVLP spray guns is the price. LVLP is really cheap if you compare them to HVLP ones.
Can I use an LVLP spray gun for latex paint?
Yes, I have used them a lot of time, and the color quality is just great!
