More detailed review ↴

If you are a beginner then you will probably want to work in different spaces until you find a perfect one. If you have a heavy table saw then that’s not possible. You need a portable table saw to make this happen, and a model that ticks all the boxes is the Bosch 4100XC-10.

This one comes with adjustable height — you can adjust the height to match it with your needs. Moreover, it also comes with wheels that allow you to move the table saw around easier.

What I like most about this machine is that it comes with a rip fence that is programmed to increase the cutting trueness and allows you to only use one hand while working. The Bosch 4100 09 is large enough for most of your projects, it features a 25-inches handling capacity.

It’s a very powerful saw, it comes with a 4 HP motor that delivers up to 3650 RPM. On the downside, raising the blade is kind of difficult.

Pros:

  • Powerful – Features 4 HP Motor that delivers up to 3650 RPM.
  • Portable – Allows you to adjust the height and comes with wheels.
  • Rip Fence – It’s engineered to increase the cutting trueness.
  • Smart Guard System – Comes with an anti-kickback device.

Cons:

  • Raising the blade can be difficult.

More detailed review ↴

The next table saw in our list is the DEWALT DWE7491RS. If you read my blog then you probably know that I’m a big fan of DeWalt. They provide high-quality machines and they haven’t disappointed with this one.

The DEWALT DWE7491RSis a lightweight table saw, approximately weighs 48 lbs which makes it very portable.  The design helps a lot on the portability.

Although it’s lightweight, this machine is still powerful — it features a 15 Amp motor that delivers up to 3850 RPM. The motor is powerful enough to cut through most of the hardwoods.

What I like most about this saw is the rip fence — it comes with a huge 2o-inch rip fence capacity, the fence adjustments are fast and smooth thanks to the pinion fence rails. The maximum cut depth is  3-1/8 inches at 90 degrees and  2-1/4 inches at 45 degrees.

On the downside, I don’t like the miter gauge quality.

Pros:

  • Lightweight – Approximately the machine weighs 48 lbs.
  • Powerful – Comes with a 15 Amp motor that delivers 3850 RPM.
  • Portable – The design helps a lot on the portability.
  • Reduced Friction – Its table surface is coated to help with that.

Cons:

  • Low-quality miter gauge.

More detailed review ↴

While working with saws you have to always be careful, but if you are a beginner ( or even a professional ) you are going to make mistakes.

You should take all the safety measures to prevent any unwanted accidents. If you are looking for a table saw that comes with a lot of safety features then you should check the SawStop JSS-120A60.

What sets this table saw apart from the other is its braking technology — it also features a blade guard and a driving knife to prevent accidents from any kickback.

Besides the safety features, this machine comes with a 120VAC motor. I also love that this machine allows you to adjust the height of the blade, thanks to the one-turn elevation feature you can easily raise or lower the blade with just one click.

You can also adjust the blade angle with a 1-degree increment (up to 45-degrees). The maximum depth cut for the saw at 0-degrees is 3 1/8″, and at 45-degrees is 2 1/8″.

On the downside, this machine is more expensive and weighs more than other similar models.  That said, the SawStop JSS-120A60 will provide you a piece of mind.

Pros:

  • Safe- It comes with a lot of safety features that will prevent any unwanted accidents.
  • Motor – Features a 120VAC motor.
  • Adjustable Blade Height  – You can easily raise or lower the blade height.
  • Angled Cuts – You can adjust the blade angle with 1-degree increments.

Cons:

  • Pricey
  • Heavy

4. SKILSAW SPT99T-01

SKIL SPT99T-01 8-1/4 Inch Portable Worm Drive Table Saw

  • Dual-Field Motor
  • Easy To Use
  • 25-inch Rip Fence

More detailed review ↴

If you are looking for a table saw that is easy to use then you should check the SKILSAW SPT99T-01.  This machine is powerful and yet lightweight.

The specialized worm drive motor is what makes this machine special.  It comes with a 15-amp Dual-Field motor that has enough power for ripping through different kinds of materials.

The motor keeps its cool even if you use it for a long time — this helps the machine to last longer.  Moreover, its motor comes with a specific arrangement of gears that gives the machine more power. You would think that a machine with this motor would be loud. but the SPT99T-01 is very quiet.

The design makes this table saw very portable, you can easily carry it with your hands and move it — it also weighs 49 pounds (approximately).  It comes with a 25-inch rip fence that has a 3-1/2 inch depth of cut.

On the downside,  the dust collector tube is short.

Pros:

  • Powerful – Comes with a 15 amp dual-field motor.
  • Quiet – It has a powerful motor, but the machine itself is very quiet.
  • Portable – Approximately weighs 49 pounds.
  • 25-inch Rip Fence

Cons:

  • The dust collector tub is short.

And last but not least is the Metabo C10RJS. This machine comes with 15 amp of power that delivers up to 4500 rotations per minute.

This is a budget choice — it comes with great features and still costs less than most of the table saw. If you are a beginner and don’t want to spend a lot of money then I totally recommend buying this.

This table saw comes a rip fence, a great and durable stand, and a push stick ( among others ).

On the downside, there are some problems with the motor. If you push the motor with tough materials then it can stop working.

Pros:

  • Budget-Friendly – Costs less than most of the table saws.
  • Powerful – A motor with 15 amp of power that delivers 4500 RPM.

Cons:

  • It isn’t recommended to use it for tough materials.

Best Beginners Table Saw – Buyers Guide

And that was our list — hopefully, you found a table saw that fits your needs.  If you didn’t then that’s okay, we will try our best to help you make a choice.

Choosing the best beginners table saw isn't easy. Even with our list, you still can get confused. To make you make a better choice we made a buyer's guide where we listed all the things that you need to focus on before buying a beginner table saw.

When buying a table saw we check a lot of things. Some of them are more important than the others, to help you understand more how we choose our machines and to help you make a better choice, down below we will list some of the most important features we check before buying a table saw for beginners.

Beveling & Cut Depth

Usually, the more cut depth a table saw has the better. If you want to measure the cutting depth then you should test the machine when it’s not cutting a bevel. This is how you can get an accurate answer and you know exactly the cut depth because the machine is working at 0-degrees.

If you want to test the bevel cutting, then you need a table saw that is adjustable. Usually, these table saws allow you to adjust the base plate at 45, 50, or 90 degrees.

You want a table saw that comes with a flush housing because this allows the machine to cut very close to the edge of the wall.  This feature helps a lot if you are looking to cut flooring at ease.

Power & Speed

When it comes to table saws, speed and power are very close to each other. Usually, the more power the machine has the faster it is.  That’s why the first thing that you should check is the power.

If you are dealing with tough material then you need a table saw that has enough power to cut through it.  The power is usually measured with HP or AMP. The higher the number the more power the machine has.  The speed is measured with RPM — again, the higher the number the faster the machine is.

If you buy a table saw that is very powerful and fast then you want to be able to control the speed. That’s why you should check for adjustable table saws. These types of saws allow you to adjust the speed and match it to the project you are working on.

The adjustable speed setting makes table saws very versatile — you will be able to cut different kinds of materials.

Blades

We buy saws to cut things, and that is able only because of the blades. So, before buying a table saw it’s more than a good idea to check the blade that the machine has or accepts.

A blade is most effective when it’s on the correct cutting depth. So, when buying a blade you should check the cut depth.

You want a table saw that comes with a splinter guard. The splinter guard minimizes the splintering of the board surface. Moreover, it helps you to make accurate cuts.

Most of the table saws that you can see on the market support 10-inch blades. There are some other tables that can support blades that are under 1o-inch, but I don’t recommend them if you are a beginner because they can’t cut through thicker materials.

When it comes to 10-inch blades you will see a lot of different options. There are some blades that come with a lot of teeth and these are very good to make smooth looking cuts, and there are blades that come with fewer teeth that are good for making rip cuts along the wood grain.

Safety

If you are not careful enough, table saws can be very dangerous, so it’s always a good idea to know how to use a table saw.

The first thing that you need to do before using a table saw is using safety goggles. Also, you need to clear up space around the table saw and place the cord in a place that it won’t be in your way while moving.  Before doing adjustments the table saw should be unplugged.

Keep in mind — you need to use the proper height of the blade. The teeth of the blade should clear the surface of the wood. But, you also have to make sure that the blade doesn’t cut through the wood too much, this prevents the blade from coming in contact with your body.  You don’t want a blade that it’s moving to touch your body.

Ease Of Use

If you never used a saw before, then using a table saw can be difficult. Ease of use is an important feature when it comes to beginners. If the machine is complicated then it will take you more time to complete a simple task.

When buying a table saw make sure to check if the machine comes with manual or helpful tips to help you.  Some brands have YouTube channels where they explain how their machine works.

Final Words and My Recommended List

The bottom line is that all of these table saws are great, it just depends on your needs and budget, the experience plays a big role too.

These table saws are easy to use (if you compare them to the complicated saws). If you still haven’t made a choice then you should read the buyer guide to help you find the best table saw for beginners.

Each model we have listed here has different features that will come in handy for you.  I know buying an expensive machine can be hard for most of us, hopefully, we made your job easier.

And if you want to look at the saws again, here’s the list of my recommended beginner table saws.
